13 in 13

Well I am super excited about these goals. It's funny how it took me less than 10 minutes to come up with this list on Wednesday night. Of course I wrote them in my brand new Erin Condren Life Planner (I'm in L-O-V-E).

Anyhow, here are my goals for 2013!!!

1. Read the Bible more

I want to get to know my Savior more. Enough said.

2. Try a new recipe every week

I may even feature some of the best recipes that I've tried (and made up) on the blog! :) I just need to be more creative.

3. Get to 1,000 blog followers

This is a big one. However, I somehow went from 11 followers on January 1st to 350 just a few days before Christmas. I think I can do this. ;)

4. Run a half marathon

I've never been brave enough to try... Until now!

5. Buy a house

We're tired of renting. We're officially on the hunt, folks!

6. Shop less

I took inventory of how many clothes I bought in 2012- and it was way too much. So I'm cutting back. I'm anxious to see what little outfits I come up with in the future (of course, they'll be featured on the blog).

7. Get an amazing job that I'll want to stay at until I retire

I'll be done with my master's degree this summer. So it's time to settle down and find a job that I'm in love with! I just finished the application for my dream job- let's see if it happens (prayers appreciated).

8. Wash my face before I go to bed

I am TERRIBLE about this. But my skin always looks a million times better if I wash it more often. So I'm gonna try to do this more often.

9. Finish my master's degree with a 4.0

I'm on track with this one! Only 4 more courses left!!

10. Spend a lot less time on my iPhone

DJ gets so irritated with me (and rightfully so) because of the amount of time that I spend checking instagram, facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc. I'm going to do my best to put the phone away, and enjoy quality time with the people around me.

11. Read 20 books (including at least 3 "classics")

I read more than 12 last year. Why not make this even more challenging? :)

12. Go on at least one unplanned trip with the hubs

We did this last year in Memphis, and we had a blast. This definitely needs to happen again.

13. Reach my goal weight

I'm hoping that the combination of the half marathon and Weight Watchers helps get me there.

And there you have it! How awesome would it be to accomplish everything on the list?

Let's make it happen! :)

How I did on my Goals for 2012

A while a go, I posted about my goals for 2012. Here's how I did:

1. Use my camera more often

I totally dominated this one. I started out the year doing a weekly photography challenge, but after the original host quit, I thought "well... now what?". I bought a 50 mm lens, and it changed my life.

Mission: Accomplished.

2. Write a song

I co-wrote a song with someone. And it was actually pretty good. I think this counts.

Mission: Accomplished.

3. Learn how to make healthy food that actually tastes good

Who knew that all you need is some spices and a little bit of olive oil?

Mission: Accomplished.

4. Learn to sew

I sewed a dress (structurally, it was great. I just picked the wrong fabric. Oops), I sewed several pillows, and I sewed little make up brush holders.

Mission: Accomplished.

5. Reconstruct the vintage $10 wedding I bought into something way more attractive

Yeah.. I didn't do this. Oops.

Mission: Not Accomplished

6. Do more Yoga

I did SOME Yoga. But I didn't do as much as I wanted to.

Mission: Not Accomplished.

7. Read at least 1 book per month

Oh.. I totally did this. I might have kind of spread it out differently (didn't read a book a month, but read 3 the next month). But I still read more than 12 books this year.

Mission: Accomplished.

8. Make my rent house NOT look like a rent house

I feel like I was able to accomplish this. I decorated the apartment (and rent house) in a way that it didn't look a hot mess. So...

Mission: Accomplished.

9. Work out more than I have this past year

Yeah, I definitely did this. It definitely helps to have a free gym membership at your apartment complex. ;)

Mission: Accomplished.

10. Learn how to coupon

Considering the extreme couponers have a ton of storage space and I never did, I should have known this wouldn't happen. Also, I'm trying to not buy as many processed foods. So I would only be able to coupon with household products.

Mission: Not Accomplished.

Hey, 7 out of 10? I'll take it.

Check back tomorrow to find out what my goals are for 2013! I'm excited! :)

Firmoo Glasses Review

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!

I want to share a little review about my experience with Firmoo and their glasses.

First, here you can see me in them. :)

I really think that the reason why I was able to find glasses that were perfect for my face shape was due to the virtual try-on feature. I found a model who had a similar face shape as I did (I could have chosen a picture of myself on Facebook), and I was able to "try on" several pair of glasses. Once I picked this pair, it was super easy to fill in all of the necessary prescription info. It only took me a total of 5 minutes (well, that's not including choosing the frames... because they had SOOOO many options).

Once the glasses came in the mail, I was absolutely blown away by a feature that I had never heard of. They have these rubber grips on the inside of my glasses! That means that I no longer have to worry about my glasses falling off of my face!

I seriously could not be more pleased with my experience with Firmoo. And you can bet that from now on, I'm going to use them when I'm buying glasses.
Are you ready for some exciting news?? YOU (yes YOU, my sweet friend) get to try a pair for free. Yup. It's free. All you have to do is pay for shipping. I don't know about you, but that's a steal. All you need to do is go to this link: http://www.firmoo.com/free-glasses.html .

This promotion is absolutely risk free- if you're not feeling the glasses you got, just send them back. So please make sure that you check them out- they're fabulous! :)

What we leave behind...

For those of you who were hoping for a more light-hearted post today, sorry... I just have been thinking about something for a week now, and I figured "this is my little nook in the world wide web, I should be able to say what I want to!" So here it goes.

Last weekend, a young man (who I didn't know as well as I would have liked to) passed away unexpectedly. He was only 21 years old, and based on the reactions of students, teachers, and people who knew and loved him very much, he was quite a man. I was astounded and amazed by what was said and written about him after students, teachers, and loved ones heard the news. As I read through hundreds of tweets and facebook statuses on Sunday and throughout the week, I thought to myself "Wow... this guy was really something." Then I started to think about my own life. And I wondered "Do I live my life in such a way that people would have had the same reaction with me?"

After pondering that question, I realized that I still have a lot of growing to do... not only in my walk with Jesus, but in my overall attitude towards others. In his death, LJ has inspired me. He was a man who loved and served without ceasing. I want to be like that. After thinking about LJ, his life, and his ministry, I know that my work on earth is still not done. There's still so much more that the Lord needs me to do. And I am willing and ready to obey.
